Songstam Hotel Zhongdian

“On top of the world in Zhongdian”

The Zhongdian region is a very special part of China, and the Songstam Hotel Zhongdian is simply a brilliant little boutique hotel. The hotel is done in the Tibetan style and stands adjacent to the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery. Hotel guests receive a free pass to the Monestry site and exploration is easy and an inevitable extension of your stay here. Guest rooms are tastefully furnished and have all the comfort and mod cons including a humidifier which helps in the dry altitude. Staff are friendly and very helpful, and the whole experience is a treat, from the personalized slippers and ginger tea on arrival to the Yak tucker for dinner. Highly recommended, spend a couple of days here and take in some of the daily excursions. This will be one of the special places in China we will be returning to.

Room Tip: Internal stairs are steep. If this is a concern, ask for a room on a lower floor.

Stayed May 2012, traveled as a couple
